Bristol, UK – May 20th, 2026

Stornaway.io wins three TVOT (TV Of Tomorrow) Leadership Awards – becoming the first company in the programme’s 22-year history to win three corporate categories in a single year.

Recognitions span accessibility, interactive advertising, and design – the result of work with Paramount, Channel 5’s Milkshake! the British Film Institute, Rebecca Atkinson, Mackinnon and Saunders, and Business Insider for Amazon Ads.

Tracy Swedlow, CEO TMRW Corp., Co-EP of TV of Tomorrow (TVOT) Business Networking Conferences said :

“Stornaway impressed us years ago when they emerged as one of the most imaginative and proactive companies dedicated to interactive television and storytelling. From the very beginning, they saw possibilities that others had not yet fully recognized, and they have continued to evolve and innovate ever since – not only in interactive experiences, but also in advanced advertising.

Our community is made up of many of the people at the forefront of the interactive television and advanced advertising industries. They know innovation when they see it. That is what makes these achievements so significant. To become the first company in the 22-year history of the ITVT/TVOT Awards for Leadership in Interactive and Multiplatform Television to win three corporate categories in a single year is a truly extraordinary accomplishment”

The three wins are:

Achievement for Furthering the Social Good – for Mixmups with Ultra Access, the world’s first ultra-accessible children’s television series, made by Stornaway with creator Rebecca Atkinson, animation studio Mackinnon and Saunders, and Paramount for Channel 5’s Milkshake! strand, with part-funding from the British Film Institute (BFI). The series is also the first interactive content the BFI has ever been able to archive as nationally significant, made possible by Stornaway’s open Non-linear Document Format.

Achievement in Advanced Advertising – for “An Advertising Tail”, a Stornaway-powered interactive B2B campaign for Amazon Ads with Business Insider / Insider Studios. The campaign was previously awarded a Silver Honor at the 17th Annual Shorty Awards (Business-to-Business category) on 21 May 2025.

Most Significant Design, User Interface or User Experience – for the dual interface inside Mixmups with Ultra Access: the child-facing “My Access Features” menu that lets every viewer build their own version of an episode from more than 4,000 valid configurations, and Stornaway’s no-code Story Map editor that enabled a regular television production team to deliver the show without writing a line of code.

Stornaway is the only UK-based, founder-led, independent company in the 2026 ITVT winners’ table, sharing the podium with Nielsen, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures Television, Comcast/Charter’s Xumo, Mediaocean, Madhive, FOX, and Verizon Media’s QuickPlay Shorts.

Kate Dimbleby, CEO of Stornaway.io, said:

“We designed Stornaway to unlock new technology for producers making content for a generation used to playing and interacting with their media. These awards show what can happen when creators are given the tools to innovate and we are so delighted that our production and delivery partners had the vision to pioneer and support these new formats.”

Rebecca Atkinson, writer and creator of Mixmups and inventor of Ultra Access®, said:

“I’m so delighted Ultra Access(r) powered by Stornaway has been recognised in two ITVT awards. The service really is the biggest leap forwards in TV access for deaf and disabled people since subtitles arrived, and given that most pre-schoolers can’t read subtitles, it’s actually the biggest leap in early years TV access for deaf children ever! Mixmups on Milkshake! Channel 5 has led the way, but disabled kids deserve more choice than just one show. I would love to see Ultra Access rolled out widely across other shows and streaming platforms for kids.”

Category Context

The Achievement in Advanced Advertising has historically gone to US ad-tech vendors and broadcaster ad operations, including Harmonic Inc and Locality LocalX (2025), Comcast Advertising and DIRECTV Advertising (2024), Premion (2023) and VIZIO (2022), and Stornaway is the first content and creation platform to win the category in its history.

The Most Significant Design, User Interface or User Experience category has previously been won by Netflix, YouTube TV, Hulu, TiVo, Comcast X1, LG, Verizon FiOS and Vevo, among others. Stornaway is the smallest and most specialised winner of this category in its 18-year history.

The Achievement for Furthering the Social Good is one of the youngest categories in ITVT’s awards. Stornaway is only the fourth winner since its introduction in 2023, following The Future Now Foundation, Revry and Gracenote.

The 22nd Annual ITVT Awards will be presented at Stingray Headquarters in Montreal on 20 May 2026, during TVOT Montreal.

Mixmups with Ultra Access is also currently a finalist at the 2026 Prix Jeunesse International, with results announced in June 2026.
