Your 360° video just got even more immersive
Place your interactive buttons and elements anywhere within your 360° video.
Give your audience the agency to explore the scene or setting in their own way. Draw attention to specific parts of a scene and create branching narratives that allow for testing and experimenting. As your audience leans forward and participates in their experience, attention, learning and engagement will all climb.
Perfect for branching scenario training, location tours and learning in hard-to-replicate environments. Create a seamless experience by linking to forms, downloads, standard video or website links.
Let’s have some specifics: what can you do with 360 Button Positions?
Okay, in a nutshell:
> Drag-and-drop to place buttons – wherever you’d like to pin your buttons, simply move into position. That’s it – no coding required.
> Add Button Images – your buttons don’t actually have to look like buttons. Upload your own images or GIFs that audiences can click to move through the experience.
> Use invisible hotspots – these can be super secret invisible buttons or only appear when audiences hover over them.
> Connect with other multimedia – this can be anything from data capture forms, downloads, images, slides, standard video, links to a website (within the Stornaway player itself), the list goes on.
> Play back instantly – there’s no need to export everything to play-test your project, creating a smoother creative workflow.
> Links beautifully with the new Multimedia Design Editor – our new feature makes designing buttons a smooth process with a whole host of new tools to speed up creation time. Delve into the details >

The big benefits of 360 Button Positions
So, how does this help you and your team?
Create a more immersive experience
Seamlessly connect up your 360º videos into an immersive interactive experience. Not only can your audience look in any direction they’d like, but they can also move between different 360 videos as they wish. This extra level of interactivity creates more engaging, more memorable and more relevant experiences.
Boost engagement with your 360 video
Give your audience the agency to move through your 360 video experience as they like. Turn passive viewers into active participants and watch learning outcomes, message retention and information recall all climb.
Publish once, deploy anywhere
You’ll only need to drag-and-drop your buttons into place on your 360 videos once, then you can publish the project anywhere online – web, mobile, learning platforms and more. Once published, any updates or improvements only need to be made to the central project, and they’ll be live everywhere.

How to make the most of 360 Button Positions
A few best practice tips to read before you get started:
Create a unique default button style for each project
If your buttons will generally have a consistent look, head over to the project settings to set the default button design for each project. Design your branded or personalized button once, and this is the style that will appear every time you click ‘New Button’.
Don’t forget about hover and click states
It’s easy to focus on your audience’s first encounter with your menu or buttons. However, you can also set different designs when a cursor hovers over the button and after the button is clicked. If your audience will return to the same menu screen several times, use Button Memory to grey out the button already chosen.
Show and hide buttons at different times
Your 360 buttons don’t all have to appear at once. Depending on your project, it may be useful for some buttons to appear later in your 360 video when different elements appear or disappear. Stornaway allows you to set the specific times that individual buttons appear and disappear.
Learn from your audience
The design journey isn’t over when you click ‘Publish’. Dig into your Stornaway Analytics dashboard to see how audiences are moving through your interactive experience and use this to inform your future button design.
